 The XOsoft Engine is at the core of the WANSync suite providing efficient block or file level synchronization and asynchronous byte level real-time replication. These processes allow two data sets on different servers, even geographically distanced servers, to be kept in sync and constantly up to date without impacting production server performance. Since replication is at the byte level only changes are replicated. This is the most efficient type of real-time replication. For example if you changed 4 bytes in a text file only 4 data bytes would be replicated. There are many companies that offer host-based replication products, with a number of those being high quality, like XOsoft. Replication is a mature technology and most serious players offer a similar mix of features, with varying approaches to design trade-offs. Replication of NTFS, FAT, dynamic volumes, NTFS compression attributes and NTFS ACLs are fully supported along with write order preservation across volumes.
